Look for the Good and Find It Everywhere

Decades ago when I was in the throws of little children, messes, and more messes, a wise friend told me to, “look at my children through the eyes of a camera”.  This wise message changed my life and my perspective.  I became a happier mother and person.  The past 4 months have reaffirmed the importance of this message….every day!  I consciously look for the Good and Find it Everywhere…even in the mess.

Last November I started to have a rash on my face in the “mask” area. (Please note that this is NOT about the controversy of wearing masks, just my experience.)  The struggle to ease the rash itching, burning, and facial pain has been a journey. Some days it was difficult to talk and you can only imagine how hard that was for me. Yes, I wore clean masks and was blessed to only have to wear them briefly while shopping, banking, etc.

Being the “herbal, natural momma” that I am, you can imagine I have used everything in my tool bag to heal the rash.

I almost canceled Christmas… a few days before, I woke up with a swollen eye, cheek, and chin. At this point, I immediately went to the doctor. The rash had developed into a staph infection, and my skin was weeping fluid.  Apparently, we breathe out staph, strep, and other bacteria that are not meant to be steamed back into our skin.  My skin just happens to be hypersensitive to this.

Today after 5 doctors, different medications, complementary practitioners, supplements, and treatments I have a diagnosis of Perioral Dermatitis.  This is very rare. One medication blew out my adrenals. I still have facial pain that has even inhibited my sleep, the rash, somedays exhaustion, multiple sinus infections and frustration from this ongoing experience. But my dear hubby and I still tell each other every day, “We’re liv’in the good life”!

I am on a holistic healing journey that has taught me so much:

  • I am in control of my thoughts.  ie: “Look for the Good and Find it Everywhere”.
  • Healing journeys can take time, patience, and perspective.
  • Eliminating gluten has been a journey.  *Please email me your hacks.
  • I am beautiful!  Yes, even with a swollen, rashy face and no make-up for months.
  • A new hairstyle does help.
  • Healing takes energy, rest, lots of water, healthy foods, and love.
  • Self-Care is vital….every day!!!

It is my hope in sharing my journey that you may have more patience with yourself and your journey.  I am here to help and support you to be able to “Look for the Good and Find It Everywhere”!!!
