I love the exhilaration of diving into water. That feeling of, “OH” and there’s no going back. This is how can feel about our goals, if we set ourselves up for success.

So, where are you at with your goals? Are you staying focused?

How I stay focused on a goal, but before that I make my goal specific.
1- I wrote it down in present tense with “I am”.
2- Use a visual reminder; a white board, paper, mirror note, electronic memo or picture, etc. But look at it often….multiple times a day.
3- Say it out loud.
4- Find the resources and methods you will need to achieve your goal.
5- Create your plan. And plan for your action. Put it on the calendar!
6- What will your reward be?

For example:
Goal- I want to get stronger, firmer and loose a few inches.
1- I am healthy, strong and fit.
2- I have a picture on my vision board that reminds of personal strength.
3- “I am fit and healthy”
4- Resources: Zumba class, T-Tapp Plus workout, Yoga, or Tai Chi Flow
5- Plan: Workout 4 to 6 times per week. It’s on my calendar.
6- Weekly reward of extra self care on Friday or Saturday. (pedicure, long bath, massage, etc.)

The rewards connect me with my body and help me to feel good about my body image too. Each day I exercise I feel stronger physically and reinforce my focus.
Another key for you may be to have an accountability. A coach, workout partner, etc. can greatly increase your success.
My sweet neighbor and I go to Zumba class together. We have fun, laugh and do our best.

Every time you take a step forward in achieving a goal you increase your odds of success.

The following are some great affirmations for focus:
– I can achieve whatever I want. I can have what I desire. Everything is possible.
– I know what I want. I know I deserve to have it. I take responsibility for bringing it into my life.
– I release all negative thoughts. I maintain a positive mindset despite challenges. I give myself permission to have fun!
