Need some afternoon energy?

Some of us get the afternoon blahs.  We just want to curl up with a book or take a nap.

Here is what I do to boost my afternoon energy:

Molasses Drink                                                                                                                                                             Add into your favorite mug 6 to 8 oz hot water  and  1 to 2 Tablespoons Black Strap molasses.   Stir and quickly add a float of milk (you choice; whole, lowfat, almond, rice, etc). Dust with cinnamon and top with whipped cream if desired.

The reason we stir the molasses into the hot water is to disperse it, but quickly adding cold milk will cool the liquid down and not destroy the B vitamins that are so richly abundant in molasses.  It is also rich in iron.

Your favorite Green Smoothie with an apple is great for a afternoon energy boost.

A sliced apple with a small handful of almonds is another good combination for energy till dinner.
